ESSE 21 Steering Committee and Working Groups

The ESSE 21 Steering Committee represents the interests and needs of the ESSE community broadly defined and provides guidance, advice and recommendations to the ESSE 21 Program. The Steering Committee leads Working Groups formed to advance the objectives of the ESSE 21 community for implementing sustainable, high quality courses, curricula and degree programs in Earth system science that reach diverse college and university student populations. These Working Groups address:

1) Specific needs of the ESSE 21 community
2) Mechanisms for addressing these needs
3) Priorities
4) Identification of new foci

Evaluation Working Group

Assist the ESSE 21 community in defining and implementing an education evaluation strategy.

Lessons Learned Working Group

• Assist the ESSE 21 community in defining and implementing strategies to share the key elements of ESS courses and programs at ESSE I, ESSE II and ESSE 21 institutions.

Diversity Working Group

• Assist the ESSE 21 community in defining and implementing a strategy to stimulate interests of under represented groups in STEM careers and recommend ways in which Earth system science can be extended to more diverse groups.
